Dorado Puerto Rico

Dorado, Puerto Rico is a small tourist town in the northern coast, 16 miles (25 Km) west of San Juan.  Best known as a tourist destination with world-class golf courses, hotels, and a beautiful beach, it is part of the San Juan Metropolitan Area.  It is known as the "cleanest town in Puerto Rico" and the "golden city."

Visitors spend their time at the excellent pools, the beach, and the excellent golf courses around the hotels. Dorado, Puerto Rico is home of one of the most famous hotels in the Metropolitan area, the Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar and the Hyatt Regency Cerromar Hotel.

Some of the places to visit located in downtown Dorado are the Distinguished Doradeños Plaza, a colorful, quaint, but lonely side plaza one block from city hall or the Theater Juan Boria (Puerto Rico’s most well-known Afro-Caribbean poetic interpreter). Doradeños take pride in keeping a clean city and you'll be surprised to see how friendly the locals are.

La Casa del Rey Museum is a sobering celebration of Puerto Rico's culture and history. The "King's House" is a beautiful 19th century Spanish mansion built in 1823.

Constructed as a parador or inn it provided housing for Spanish government personnel and also served as the regional military headquarters later, exhibits mid-19th century furniture and fixtures.  It is located at Calle Méndez Vigo #292 in Dorado and is open Monday-Friday, 800am - 430pm.

But the main attraction to this town are the world-class hotels and golf courses.  The Hyatt Regency Cerromar Hotel & Casino has the largest and most beautiful, river, styled swimming pool in the world (1,776 ft. long). 

The Cerrormar is a large high-rise luxury resort with a four 18-hole championship golf courses surrounded by lush manicured grounds, mountains, palms and sea.
